Napster Service Leaves Some Music Fans Cold WCCO, MN
Napster's new pitch: all the music you can download for less than $15 a month.
It sounds like a great deal, but not everyone is impressed.
Like millions of Americans, Damon Dennin saw a Super Bowl commercial launching
Napster to Go, a new digital music service. For a monthly fee of $14.95,
subscribers can download an unlimited number of songs to compatible MP3 players.
Dennin has already added 1,200 songs to his Apple iPod music player. He said he
usually rips songs from his own CDs and friends' CDs. He can also download songs
for $.99 each from Apple's iTunes Music Store.
Dennin and other iPod owners can't take advantage of Napster's service, however.
Songs downloaded from Napster to Go are not compatible with iPod music players.
In order to use Napster's service, an iPod owner would have to purchase a
different digital music player.
