It seems that everyone wants to take a bite out of Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) these
days. The amazing popularity of the company's iPod music player and the
downloading of music from the iTunes Music Store have changed the entertainment
industry.
"Over the course of the past year, we've witnessed the high-profile
introductions of numerous legitimate online music services," said Mark
Kleinschmit, author of the TEMPO study of digital music behaviors.
Apple has carved a niche in the Internet music business. Since offering
downloadable music in 2001, more than 250 million songs have been pulled from
the Internet for play on the more than 10 million iPod music players.
